HOPE A LIVING MESSAGE
Call to Worship:
What a wonderful way to begin.
Do not be afraid, I am with you.
This is Palm Sunday. More recently the conflict of this event has taken on a renewed controversy in my life. There grows an immense hope and expectation in the future. Jesus presents this drama for us as the events of passion week unfold.
Prayer: Lord we live in a world of controversy.
Today another person will die; car crash, medical failure, violence done by one person to another, overdose, underdose,
infant, child, one who we often say his/her life ended to soon, older person, an elder of our community, someone we do not know, someone we would have hoped to know, someone we love.
Lord sometimes the controversy is in our soul. We reflect on the things we hope for, yet are unable to see these hopes come to fruition.
Lord enable us to walk along side of you as you enter triumphantly.
Enable us to celebrate the hope that becomes so real, the hope that reintroduces itself when we believe that evil cannot reign supreme.
Enable us to see the message you have brought, you have given and we grown to cherish. Amen
There are times when doubt and criticism do exist. There are times when the battle between good and evil is forgotten. There are times when doubt and pessimism reign supreme but the story keeps coming back. With each person who tells the story hope is reinvented. Your story, my story reflects the simple message that triumph appears in the simplicity of one such as Jesus. He came, the criticism is often not about him but about those who try to make of him more then what he made of himself. His message was based on humbleness, on servanthood. His message was less spoken then lived. His message was an open invitation to experience the love of God. Indeed His message was about being the love of God visualized. You and I have a special hope today not because of armies and banks, not because our political ambitions are being fulfilled but because the message and life that Jesus lived reinvents itself in our own lives each day. This message, our hope grows deeper and deeper as we live it and share it with others.
